2019 Conference
Our annual conference in May 2019 was titled ‘Wonderfully Made’, and we were invited to reflect on the Psalmists assertion that we are indeed ‘Wonderfully Made’. To lead us into this reflection, discussion and learning we were brilliantly and ably lead by Elaine Storkey, Margaret Whipp and Bishop Ruth Worsley. Elaine challenged us deeply with her work on gender based violence and her work as a lay theologian and activist. What is Good News for those whose experience is not that they are ‘Wonderfully Made’? Margaret Whipp lead us in a deep reflection on the Clergy Covenant of Care and our own well being as pastors and priests. And Bishop Ruth preached movingly at our final Eucharist on our theme. In addition to our key note speakers we had a session on self-care, the Transformations Agenda and we heard from the work of Chelmsford Diocese on Harassment Officers.
In short, it was a time of great fellowship, learning, reflection and learning, as we thought about our own challenges and that of our sisters around the world. Yes, we are wonderfully made in God’s eyes; but there is still a long way to go to spread and live this great truth for all people.
